Hey, I’m Melissa. I am the creator of The Program and I want to help you overcome your anxiety and panic attacks.

Early in life, in primary school, I developed anxiety. I don’t know why, but I remember this one moment in particular. The teacher was reading us a story, and I raised my hand because I needed to go to the bathroom. She said, “You can go after we finish the story.” Maybe that was the first time I realised I could not just leave the classroom whenever I wanted to, and that made me feel uncomfortable.
In high school, the anxiety developed into proper panic attacks. Until the point that I stayed out of school for eight weeks because I could not sit in a classroom without feeling very, very uncomfortable and stressed. I had developed safety behaviours, and I believed that only specific people or things were able to calm me down.
After high school, I started university – a degree in neuropsychology. During those years, my panic attacks got so bad that I had them at home. The place that should be your safe space. I would still do most things, but always with a lot of discomfort and sometimes ending in a panic attack. Unfortunately, the therapists that I saw throughout the years could not really help me with my panic attacks. Medication didn’t help me either, and I also knew that wasn’t the solution.
When I didn’t see a way out anymore, something changed. I was ready to put the necessary work in. I started working on my thinking patterns and my lifestyle, which included courses on lifestyle coaching and hormone health coaching.
I learned about neuroplasticity in my degree and knew that I could build new – healthy and helpful – habits. I realised that overcoming my panic attacks meant working on three pillars:
- Presentation: how do I present a panic attack to myself?
- Rest: how do I let my nervous system rest?
- Lifestyle: how do I prevent future panic attacks and live a happy and healthy life in general?
What I’ve learned is what I want to share with you.
